The story behind UVA Wine Tours
I grew up in Argentine Patagonia, but my story with Mendoza started over ten years ago — and never stopped. Maybe it was the vineyards, the scent of the wild jarilla shrubs, the Andes always in view. And yes, very likely, the wine.
I studied local development and wrote my entire thesis on the wine routes of Mendoza. But it was only by living here — walking the vineyards, building friendships with the people who tend them — that I came to understand why Mendoza wine is something truly singular: it expresses the personality of the person who made it and the land it came from.
For a full year I visited wineries, sat with winemakers and agronomists, and kept answering the same request from friends and family who wanted to experience that world from the inside. That’s where the idea started.
Then came the pandemic, and a newborn daughter, and both of them rearranged my priorities in the best way: it was time to reinvent myself. It was time for UVA Wine Tours.
Today, together with my team, we dedicate our work to sharing genuine wine country experiences that let you discover Mendoza at your own pace, shaped around your own interests — not a template.
“Wine transforms almost any moment into a special occasion — and Mendoza has a way of making that effortless.”
— Silvina Gilberto, Founder of UVA Wine Tours

The destination
Mendoza is South America’s most important wine region — the only zone in Argentina with a Controlled Origin Denomination for Malbec. The place where winemakers from five continents chose to plant their vineyards. Home to Zuccardi, voted the world’s best vineyard three years running, and Catena Zapata, the winery that put Argentine Malbec on the global map.
But Mendoza wine country isn’t something you can understand from a screen. You understand it by walking a vineyard with the Andes at your back, tasting a Malbec in the cellar where it was born, sitting down to lunch between the vines with a glass of something you won’t find anywhere else.
We’ve been doing this for over ten years. And we’d love to take you with us.
